#15 California

San Diego is part of the state of California. The most famous fault is the San Andreas fault. San Diego is close to this fault. San Diego is part of the Peninsular Ranges, which is one of California's landform regions. The climate varies across California, but they follow the same seasonal trends. California became part of the United States in 1848 after the Mexican War. According to the textbook, "San Diego has long been the site of major naval installations and the Navy remains one of the city's major employer. San Diego is a gateway to Mexico, since it's close by. San Diego is part of the five largest metropolitan areas in California.

  1. I really enjoyed the video you posted of the tour group showcasing San Diegos naval installations. It was really an original idea to show an actual home video, even though the audio was not the best. Still, I learned a few things that I had not known about San Diego. I was aware already of San Diego having a large part in the military, especially the Navy. What I was not aware of was how much the Navy contributed in aiding foreign countries in need, for example the cyclone that hit Bangladesh. Overall, I think this is a perfect video to post for the chapter on California. It really describes the contributions that California does for the United States.
